This harpsichord is based on a historical instrument made by ANDREAS RUCKERS OF ANTWERP IN 1640 AD. A note on the bottom of the original says: "Handel's harpsichord, given by Dr. Burney to the Rev. Th. Twining ...." Another historical note by A.J. Hipkins refers to...."he valued highly his favourite instrument on which the great Handel had played."
The original harpsichord is now in the Belle Skinner collection at Yale University.
This Flemish Single reproduction is all wood construction in the traditional manner, but very stable and reliable, with a rich, historical sound.
